Hi, It's me, Stan

My long anticipated Golden Girls inspired Tarot deck arrived today, and you guys, I am TICKLED. They're awesome. I'll give a more thorough review in just a second, but first I just need to focus on the card that made me literally laugh out loud! It comes to us from Mr. Stanley Zbornack, who was an unexpected character in the deck and a delight!

Stanley was a complicated character, the butt of countless jokes from Sophia and Dorothy, and was no stranger to having the door slammed in his face. But he was nothing if not resilient, he just kept coming back for more! And that toupee! They had such a laugh over Stanley's mid life crisis induced accessory, and today, I did too, hold on, you'll see why!

Stanley appears twice in the deck, once as the Emperor where he proudly sports his naturally bald head, and once as the Hanged Man, dangling by one foot from a Florida palm tree, just casually observing the world, nothing to see here folks. But you guys! LOOK at his head! I laughed out loud so hard I thought I might wake the kids, the hilarity is in the details folks!

Do you see it?

His toupee is literally hanging from his head! I died! So clever, and perfect for this Hanged Man. Now, the deck is full of really fabulous 80's fashion and Golden Girls Nostalgia, but this card is the one that really made me happy!

The rest of the deck is great too though. It's based on the classic Rider Waite imagery, which is handy for divining the meanings of each card. It's a good sized deck, comfortable to hold, but the cards are a bit thin, and not the easiest shuffle. They're not coated so I'm not sure how long they'll last, but I'll enjoy them thoroughly while they do!

You'll see lots of familiar outfits and imagery, plenty of Miami and cheesecake and Golden Girls sass, so much nostalgia! Sophia represents the suit of Wands, Dorothy the suit of Swords, Rose the suit of Cups and Blanche the suit of Pentacles (the Knights and Kings are represented by some of the ladies better known suitors), overall its a really cool deck!

The biggest negative I can think of is that there's no guide book to refer to, so if you aren't well versed in the cards meanings or familiar with the Rider Waite imagery, you'll have to refer to a book or online. Otherwise, I am pretty pumped to put these ladies to work! Who wants to go first? Help me break in the deck and, as the box says, get a look into your future from the lanai!
